Education & Outreach
The Boone County Solid Waste Management District is respobsible for impolementing programs and educating Boone County residents to reduce, recyle or properly dispose of their residential waste. Through education and programming, we enable residents to be responsible stweards of the environment while preserving public health in and around Boone County.
Education Programs
We offer a wide range of educational programs that can be tailored for any age group, preschool through adult.
Our programs focus on:
Reducing waste, reusing, recycling, preventing land & water pollution, natural resource conservation, green shopping, landfill engineering, household hazardous waste, composting, circular economy, and more!
Community Outreach
The District loves to participate in a wide range of community events. We can host an event booth, provide a close or hands-on workshop, lead a reading, and more! The District also offers annual community grants worth up to $5000 for organizations to expand recycling efforts, ensure proper disposal, purchase items made from recycled content, etc.
Community Service
We have a variety of options for individuals or groups, big and small, to participate in community service projects.

ABC (A Bench for Caps)
Plastic Bag Swap
Litter Clean-ups
Other Special Collections
All programs are free of charage and open to communities and organizations within Boone County.
